Examples of corresponding transaxial PET (A, D), fused PET/CT (B, E) and CT (C, F) slices. A patient (A-C) had a Gleason sum 8 (4 + 4) PCa at biopsy and the most prominent focus of prostatic FDG uptake was only faintly noticeable (negative clinical report; Score = 1; SUVmax = 2.7). His PCa was downgraded to Gleason sum 6 (3 + 3) after RP. Conversely, another patient (D-F) also had a Gleason sum 8 (4 + 4) PCa at biopsy, but FDG-PET/CT showed a highly hypermetabolic prostatic focus (positive clinical report; Score = 3; SUVmax = 8.2). His PCa was upgraded to Gleason sum 9 (5 + 4) following RP.
