CT scan of the chest shows diffuse abnormality with bilateral effusions, ground glass attenuation, thickened interstitium and coarse linear parenchymal bands. B. PET image shows diffuse parenchymal uptake of FDG in keeping with a diffuse inflammatory process. Biopsy revealed diffuse alveolar damage.
